Just wanted to confirm what Mr. West has said about the distinction between the Blackbird Airpark and the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark at Palmdale Plant 42 (formerly Palmdale Plant 42 Heritage Airpark). The Blackbird Airpark is affiliated with the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum at Edwards AFB (an AF Museum). Although the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark is adjacent to the Blackbird Airpark, it is actually a City of Palmdale operated facility, separate from the Blackbird Airpark, and is dedicated to preserving and displaying the history and aircraft of Air Force Plant 42. The Joe Davies Heritage Airpark website is www.palmdaleairpark.com, and the site is open to the public Thurs-Sun, 11 am - 4 pm (same hours as the Blackbird Airpark). Look forward to your visiting our website and our facility. You may contact me directly if you have any questions.

I used to live a few miles away from Blackbird Airpark and I am sorry to say I did not visit it as often as I would have liked. I grew up in the A.V. and was always fascinated by the SR-71 when it would fly out of Detachment 51, 9th RW at Plant 42. This airpark is the only place in the world that I know of where you can see the SR-71 with it's predecessor the A-12 at the same venue. The bonus is the D-21 drone which are almost non-exsistent anymore anywhere. These planes are the most awesome piece of engineering that modern flight has ever seen. Somewhere K. Johnson is still smiling just thinking about his Blackbirds

I love this place, the sr71 and the A12 look really ntight next together. Now they have an F-14 and F-4 Phantom 2. This site needs to be updated.

There is something that I have to clarify. The Blackbird Air Park is a seperate airpark from the Palmdale Heritage Air Park (now renamed the Joe Davies Heritage Air Park). There are only four aircraft in the Blackbird Air Park.... The SR-71, A-12, U-2 and the D-21 drone. All the other aircraft listed here are part of the JDHAP collection, which is growing very quickly.

I went to this museum when it opened, back in 1993 or 1994 (I'm not exactly certain). I was living in Lancaster, CA at that time and was work for the Air Force as a Research Aerospace Engineer at Edwards Air Force Base. There were no other aircraft models displayed at that time (asides from SR-71/A-12, of course). They were letting people sit in the cockpit of one of the planes and have their picture taken. So, I have a picture of myself sitting in the cockpit of the SR-71/A-12. I ran into your website while searching for information on the Northrop F-20 "TigerShark".

ALSO, the SR-71 and the A-12 listed here are also listed as being at Edwards AFFTC Museum. The SR-71 that is actually on display at Edwards is not listed.

"you can not find an A-12 / SR-71 just anywhere... it's that simple."????? You're in San Bernardino, California, you're within a half-hour of a SR-71, down at March ARB, Riverside, California. Next time you're in: San Diego, go to the AeroSpace Museum, there's an A-12 out in front Palmdale, again, come up to Edwards AFB, AFFTC Museum Atwater, California, stop at the Castle Air Museum Yuba City, California, go over to Beale AFB Museum Those are within about 8 hours of San Bernadino. You were on this website which is an AWESOME resource for finding the aircraft that you like, USE IT.

Great time! I had a "blast" at an optional cost of a small donation. I took my wife and two boys. My 7 year old can not stop playing with the small plan I bought him in the gift shop. My wife was board as usual but knew I enjoyed the heck out of myself. I gave you a world class rating because you can not find an A-12 / SR-71 just anywhere... it's that simple. Thanks again!
