My first Tech School (Bomb Nav) was at Lowry in June of 1953. I returned for 7 level school in December of 1957. Then I attended UTE school in the Spring of 1964. Some great memories

During the summer of 1970 I spent 8 weeks at Lowry, TDY from Cannon AFB, NM. I was there to attend an electronics school on F-111 avionics....AFSC 326x1A. The time spent was a good break from the hot desert of eastern New Mexico. Spent some time at Rocky Mountain National Park and the campgrounds at Dillon Resevoir. I have not been back to Denver since that summer. Looking forward to doing so, and visiting the museum at Lowry.

Today this museum has become the Wings Over The Rockies Aviation and Space Museum, 2 hangars remain for the museum but the rest of the base has been developed for housing and business.

I experienced the pleasure of attending tech school at Lowey in the late 60's, and in the cold. Recently I returned to find that Lowery is now a housing development, with a fine air museum in two of the old hangars. Great display, with some fine examples of aircraft retired from service. The people are very friendly, and I would recommend a visit to see all the old Lowery photographs. Thanks, great place.

"Wings over the Rockies air museum" is indeed alive and kicking and open to the public. I visited in July 05 and it is a great museum. It is housed in one of a pair of hangars which were originally part of Lowery AFB. They now stand amidst a great deal of new buildings which have sprung up around it. The B-52 parked outside looks great and the collection inside is also great. This is the first museum that I have seen that shows its aircraft with deployed equipment such as emergancy Ram Air Turbines, Weapons racks deployed from weapons bays. Great exhibits displayed in a great way, not to be missed if you are any where near.
