The Weeks Air Museum no longer exists in Miami it is now in Central Florida in Polk City off I4, exit 44. The new attraction opened in 1995 and we are still open, the new name is Fantasy of Flight. Check out the web site @ fantasyofflight.com. Just thought you might want to know, Oh by the way it's bigger and better!

Some interesting planes present: mig 15, tempest. We where delighted with the presence of de Collings Foundation B17 and B24; we even visited the interiors of those bombers. Why the Tempest has a "Crois de Loraine"?

Weeks is a small but very interesting air museum. It was heavily damaged by Hurricane Andrew, and many of the exhibits still bear the scars, although resoration is ongoing. Full static displays consist of fighters primarily, with a Hawker Tempest, and Grumman Tigercat being among the nicer displays. Quite a few engines including a cutaway Twin Wasp, with electric rotation to show operation. If you are in the area, it makes a nice couple of hours.

The Weeks Air Museum at Tamiami Airport closed its doors on Sunday Jul 22, 2001 for the last time. Mr Kermit Weeks is reported by the Herald to be relocating the aircraft to a place in N. Central Florida. Ref. M. Herald article July 22, 2001. Kermit has left the building, the county and S. Florida. Sad to see his collection go after 15 plus years here. Try Lakeland, Fl to get him.

A VISIT TO SEE THE B-26 WITH THE CUBAN LIBERATION AIR FORCE MARKINGS IS WORTH THE TRIP. THIS TYPY OF AIRCRAFT FOUGHT IN THE ILL FATED BAY OF PIGS INVASION AND PROBED TO BE A SUPERB FLYING PLATTFORM. IS A SHAME OF ALL THE OTHERS AIRCRAFTS LOST DURING THE LAST HURRICANE

Great indoor and outdoor exhibits with a well-stocked pilot shop/bookstore. There are hidden treasures in the hangar like a Japanese Tony (I think) bomber in mid-restoration. A lot of engines (Kermit likes engines) and a good representation of WWI and WWII airplanes. A big plus is you can fly into TMB and tie down next to the museum. Mint PBY, A-26, others. Worth the trip.
