stephen kent Danvers, MA | I am looking for any info and support in rebuilding a basket case aeronca TC65 which I would like to do up in military dress. The plane went down in a swamp and had damaged landing gear, in '81. The person I bought it from had procured some L3 landing gear, and had planned on using that. What are differences between planes? I have seen the L3 is flown from the front. Is the fuselage the same, and will the gear fit? This fuselage had been left out with a tarp on it for quite a while, and due to some rust, I am looking to weld, or have welded, or buy another fuselage. The other parts have been in a dry barn, and the books are from day one for both the frame, and the engine. The engine had not been pickeled; had 250 hours on rebuild. It is a 1940 and books referr to co. as Aeronautical Corp.. Have been flying Luscombe 8A for a few years now, and would love to take some seminars on rebuilding. Has anyone had experiences to share? My e-mail is stephen_kent@comcast.net . Can check back here for responses as well. Nice website! Are there any plans for fuselage building?rebuilding? 09/18/2007 @ 16:30 [ref: 17958] |

Tom Swindle Ft.Worth, TX | Looking for a main landing gear leg for my L3. Need right, but will buy both. I took my daughter on her first airplane ride in this airplane and now I want to take my grandson on his first ride in the same airplane. 11/19/2006 @ 19:05 [ref: 14785] |
Scott Johnson Oshkosh, WI | I have recently purchased a 1940 Aeronca 65-TC that will need complet rebuilding and am looking for a good source for rib and etc. Seems like most places have ribs for the 7 or 11 series aircraft but not for the 65-TC Defender. The ribs that I have are not stamped but look to be two pieces and rivited together along with all the gussetts. Are4 these type of ribs still avialable or are there stc.s to use other ribs.
Thanks in advance
Scott Johnson

gene zeigler , OH | I HAD THE PRIVELEGE OF FLYING A O-58/ L-3 AT THE WAREN SKEETS AIRPORT IN THE 1970S IT WAS PINTED IN WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE A CLOSE STINSON RED AND HAD SIVER WINGS AN A SILVER FUSALAGE STRIPE. I ORIGIONALLY SOLOED IN A PIPER J-3 AND LATER FLEW MANY OTHER AIRCRAFT BOTH TRI GEAR AND TAIL DRAGGERS. THE L-3 WAS A PLEASURE TO FLY SMOOTH ON THE CONTROLS AND JUST PURE FUN. I FLEW THIS AIRCRAFT WHEN THE OWNER JUST WANTED TO RIDE. TOOK HIS SON UP SEVERAL TIMES. THE ONE THING THAT STANDS OUT MOST OF ALL WAS THE FACT THAT THE TACH US UN USEABLE AND THE NEEDLE FLUTTERED ALL THE TIME I JUST FLEW IT WHERE THE ENGINE FELT AND SOUNDED RIGHT. A REAL PLEASURE ESPECIALLY ON A GRASS FIELD 09/19/2006 @ 06:00 [ref: 14214] |
