Mike Sparks, NV | This person was refering to a 1967 A65 Queen Air that has round windows and a swept tail. Thus looking like a 90 King Air 04/11/2007 @ 12:10 [ref: 16157] |
George Garrett , AR | Actually, it was the BE-88 Queen Air that was the forerunner of the BE-90, King Air. Basically identacal airframe just differant engines.

Ernie Ganas Ignacio, CA | Beechcraft has never been owned by North American, it was bought by Raytheon a number of years ago. They bought it for the Defense contracts it had and they treated the airplane R&D and manufacturing quite poorly.
A Queen Air is piston powered, a King Air is turbine powered I flew both in the Army 06/19/2006 @ 21:18 [ref: 13551] |
Richard , GA | The Turbine powered King Air evolved from the piston powered Queen air airframe. They both have the same type certificate "3A20". I own a 1967 Queen air model A65 with round window STC mod by Crossroads aviation and a swept tail. It looks just like an A90 and C90 King air except the cowlings and engines are different. Anyone calling a King air a Queen air is simply misinformed, including the individual who titled a photo or painting of a King air incorrectly. Richard 01/14/2006 @ 13:16 [ref: 12154] |
Alex Moreland Spokane, WA | The Queen Air predates the King Air. The Queen Air had piston engines whereas the King Air had turbine engines. They are different airplanes with different names 10/13/2005 @ 14:33 [ref: 11468] |
Jim Conrath Newark, OH | I saw a comment on the Beechcraft "King Air" airplane, on this site, that the Nickname for the King Air was "Queen Air". Someone wrote in response that "Queen Air" was never the nickname for King Air. I have a colored 12" X 16" print, matted and under glass, that hung in my office at North American Aviation for 20 years. It was done by James Yarnell, and it is titled "The Beechcraft Queen Air". As I recall, Beechcraft was wholly owned by North American at the time. Your site doesn't say anything else about the "Queen Air". Can anyone tell me anything about the Queen Air? Thanks! Ernie Ganas Ignacio, CA | Nickname is not Queen Air!!! It is King Air 10/21/2001 @ 01:36 [ref: 3447] |
