Richard (woody) Woodard Anaconda, MT | I also was at Forbes AFB from 1957 to 1962. The RB47H that was shot down over the Barents sea was operating out of Brize NORTON uk. It was TDY from forbes. I remember Bob Becker whose comments appear here. We were assigned to the 55th AEMS fire control shop. 08/26/2008 @ 16:55 [ref: 22556] |

Pete Hodgdon , FL | When I worked at LAX for the airlines, I use to see this RB47 at North American Aviation. It was used to test F-111
radar, and it had a similar nose as the F-111. It was the last duty this B-47 performed prior to flying to Eglin AFB, Fla. and retiring at the USAF Armament Museum. Many a day I saw it takeoff and land at LAX. On my lunch hour I drove across the ramp to NAA and the bomb bay doors were open and to my surprise 5 or 6 technicians were sitting at monitor positions in the bomb bay. 06/22/2008 @ 15:55 [ref: 21575] |

Monta Gibson ( Gibb ) Leander, TX | It's great to see info. on the RB-47's, 55 Strat. Recon. Wing and for me the 338th Sqdn. @ Forbes AFB. I was a Line Mechanic on a Post Flight inspection crew from 1954 to 58. For so long it almost seemed that period was just a figment of my imagination. You could'nt find any history on RB-47's or our missions. Some names that I served with, Benny Hubenak, Al Martinez, Andrew Lowe,Fred Nash,Dennis Quilty, Paul Barth, Robert Sprague. I would really like to hear from any of you guys. 03/23/2008 @ 04:47 [ref: 20235] |

Neil Webner Columbus, OH | I am writing a short booklet about the death of my brother-in-law, Capt. Robert C. Dennis, on takeoff from Kindley AFB in Bermuda during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was with the 33rd Sqd, 55th SAC Wing out of Forbes. I would greatly appreciate any information concerning the required runway for the RB-47H with water assist. Also, any photos of a water-assisted TO would be helpful. 03/17/2008 @ 05:04 [ref: 20057] |
Lisa Norton Hanscom AFB, MA | My Dad was stationed at Forbes AFB from 1957-1961. His name was John Cleri. I am wondering if anyone could tell me about his AF career or what he did there, he passed away. I currently work with the Air Force at Hanscom AFB. If anyone knows my Dad or worked with him, any correspondence is welcome. Thank you! 12/26/2007 @ 10:59 [ref: 19056] |
Wm R Niecko Kalamazoo, MI | My entire 3 yr-9 mos tour,54-58,at Forbes I was assigned to
the 38SRS. Calvin T Moser, I remember you. I Was assigned to Maintenance as the Clerk under M/Sge James J Lolli, then clerk in the Ordery Room under M/Sgt Austin H Dresser. Met my wife of 50 yrs at Toppers Drive In on Topeka Blvd. Daughter of a T/Sgt in 90th A & E, man what a "B". Last Sept Two waitreses at the restruant I hang out at took me to Wright Pat,Dayton to see my brick at the 55th SRW memorial and to hanger #3 to see tail #4299. Words cannot describe your feelings to see the restored RB47H. The 55th memorial in the gardens is without a doubt the best of all the memorials. As usual, the 38th SRS motto "We Lead, Others Follow". 12/09/2007 @ 17:17 [ref: 18861] |
