Wayne Ferry St. Catharines, ON | I would like to obtain a set of dwg for the Curtiss Seagull flying boat. Scale dwg, model dwg anything. 03/30/2001 @ 03:51 [ref: 1934] |
James Robinson Darien, CT | My father crashed on his first and only flight, in a Curtiss
Seagull, at 10:40AM 13 Nov 1918. He was USN enlisted, an
aircraft mechanic, and for his good work he was offered a joy
ride that went bad when the pilot fiddled with the fuel controls
[it was later determined] to give his passenger(s) a thrill
by having the engine sputter in flight. But he forgot and he
lost control when the engine died just before touchdown. The
plane flipped over, killing the pilot and severely injuring
my father. Dad told me he was strapped in the nose from all
directions so it must have been a model HS-2L, though the
record says it was a model HS-2.
Suggestions as to who I might contact for a more complete
crash report will be greatly appreciated. 01/01/2001 @ 11:17 [ref: 1284] |
