In January 1960 I flew from Yellowknife to Coppermine N.W.T. with a stop at Port Radium on Great Bear Lake to drop off mail. Piloting the Pacific Western Airlines single engine Otter was Bush Pilot Don Hamilton. During my 6 1/2 years at Coppermine the Otter became the main lifeline with the outside world. Before passing away on April 11, 2009 Don Hamilton published a book "Flying Overloaded - Adventures of a Canadian Arctic Pilot". For anyone interested in the capabilities of the Otter in the hands of a very experienced pilot it is a series of facinating stories.
