The A-20 in the photo above, serial# 44-002 ("4002") crashed on Rincon Mountain, 30 miles ESE of Tucson, Arizona on the night of August 9, 1945. The aircraft flew into the southern slope of the mountain trying to avoid a severe storm. Sadly, both pilots (Lt Russel Mathern and Capt Holbrook Snyder) were killed, just months after the end of hostilities. . . The scattered wreck is still resting in peace on the mountain to this day.
