There was only one O-38 by Douglas that was designated as an O-38C according to Authur Pearcy in his book "US Coast Guard Aircraft since 1916". It was Coast Guard number V108 which was the 8th aircraft to enter service in the Coast Guard. I suspect it was circa 1924.

Keep up the great work on Aviation Enthusiast Corner.

I am presently involved in serious research of Coast Guard aviation and could use some pictures and stories of early Coast Guard aviation for my work.

By the way, if you look closely at the enlarged photo of the O-38C on your site, you will make out US COAST GUARD on the side of the fusilage.
