I was doing some research on ship #2 (44-61509) recently, and was told by a staffmember at the NASM that this airplane was being moved to the Air Force Musuem for restoration and future display. Given the condition of the airframe from its early years of outdoor storage/neglect, don't look for it too soon.

Once the B-43 project was cancelled, 44-61509 performed engine development work for the GE TG-190 (J47) and flew with both a standard J35 and an instrumented J47. The Air Force provided pilots and maintenance, while GE was allowed to come up with flight plans, fuel schedules, etc.

I was watching the Wings channel today - channel #287 on direct TV - on "strange planes" - pusher planes - they did a part of the program on the B-42 & B-43 - showing both flying - very interesting. Pat Porter - Texas
