We are in the process of developing a removable pod concept small aircraft for the mission field and feeder airlines. Concept involves change of pods by tractor aircraft disengaging from pod, taxiing straight forward, straddling pod to be picked up, and in some cases continuing on into flight. Connections operated internally by crew. Mate and demate accomplished in under 10 seconds. Helpful when being shot at as is the case in some missionary operations.

General Gavin's KIWI pod concept was too far ahead of its time for piston-engined airplanes. We should use today's ISO shipping containers as KIWI pods.
