"Smooth as silk" was the general opinion of most who flew the F9F. I was assigned to the flight line at Navel Air Station North Island, San Diego in November of 1959. Their were three F9F-8T's on the line at that time. They were, 147312, 147313, and 147326. I became a Plane Captain of these air craft and was REQUIRED to fly as an observer when ever a pilot didn't have anyone els with him, which was most often the case. I didn't keep track of my flying time, but I seemed to be flying more time than working and I got paid Flight Skins ($$$$) to boot. Talk about a Racket! Other A/C I was able To Fly in were, TV-2, T-28, SNB-5, AD-5 Sky Raider, TF(S2F). When I think about it I was very fortunate because there is little that I admire more in my life than those who Pilot such beautiful machinery.
