Flew on both PR31 and PR32 in Vietnam stationed out of Agana, Guam with VQ1 and Dets in DaNang, Atsugi, and Cubi Poin, PI. Loved this aircraft and our Playboy bunny on the tail. Made us stand out from the rest!!!! Enjoyed when we R&R to Bangkok and parked alongside a B52. When the 6 crew members B52 crew departed their aircraft and saw the 30+ crew get off PR31 you sould have seen their faces. Something I'll never forget. I was a qualified NATOPS Biglook/APS-20 Radar Operator during my tenure with VQ1. Miss those days...

I was assigned to VQ-1 in the late 70's/early 80's in AIMD Atsugi and Guam.
Both places were a dream! And that airframe just kept on going and going and going and.........

The three B&W pictures on this website are of PR-31 and PR-32, the two EP-3B aircraft operated from Atsugi, Japan by VQ-1 until at least the mid 70's. I flew in VQ-1 during 1970-1972. We operated all over the Far East, including Vietnam. I was EWAC (Electronic Warfare Aircraft Commander) on these a/c. "Crew 32 forever!"

I flew on both PR-31 and PR-32 back in the early 80's, thought they had a different paint scheme. Unfortuantly I also was part of the team that took them apart and retired them. But I truely enjoyed this airframe and the mission it did.

The three pictures here of PR aircraft do not denote their unit. Being the son of a Typhoon Tracker (VW-1), I know that PR tailcode was and is assigned to the unit that began as a detachment of VW-1 and became VQ-1. That unit still exists, proudly, and it's men and women deserve a tribute for the dedicated service they have always provided.
