I was assigned to AIRBARSRON-2 in late 1957 thru early 1960. I spent a 9 month and a 3 month tour on Midway Island the remainder at Barbers Point.
I wonder if anyone remembers Chief "Bull Evans", our line Chief on Midway? I will never forget the day I was working on one of our Connies when an Air Force transport taxied up to our hanger, opened the cargo hatch and reveled a huge Chris Craft cabin cruiser. Naturaly I thought it belonged to the base Commanding Officer but NO! it belonged to our beloved Chief "Bull Evans. He must have had friends in high places, after all he was an enlisted man with his own private "Ship" on Midway Island where the only gasoline powered vehicles were four or five rusted out pick-ups and they belonged to the Navy!
I would love to hear from any of my old shipmates (and you are old)!!

Flew with VW-2 out of Patuxent River between 1958 and 1960. TDY's to Argentia, Sigonella, Jacksonville with VW-4 Hurricane Hunters. Connies were about the best duty back then but the flights were mighty long. Pucker factors now and then from GCA's in Argentia (pilots seemed to like to pipe the GCA over the intercom then stay below glide path), loss of 2 engines once, and a few fires both inside and out. Saw two burned out WV-2 hulks alongside the runway on first TDY. One occurred the night before when we had diverted to Goose Bay due to weather.

Looking for anyone who may have been a part of the VP-24 transition out of P2V Neptunes and into the WV-2. My father, John Brouillette, was a VP-24 member (Crew of HA-7 PB4Y-2) flying Pax River/Argentia. Trying to fill some missing links in his service record.

I was a flight electrician on WV-2s flying out of Argentia, Newfoundland from 1958 to 1960. I remember the many landings in almost zero visibility. The landings were frightening but I always had confidence in our pilots and the Ground Control that brought us in. I always felt safe in the WV-2 as it had an unparalled safety record.

I Was in VW 15 1956 thru 1960. ATN3 (frepaired the nav. equipment) also flew as a radio operater, using morse code to send the messages. Spent as much time in Newfoundland as Pax River. We flew 100 hours a month, I was in crew 13.
