I was the last Flight engineer to fly on Val. Flew her to her retirement home at Davis Monthan AFB (AMARC boneyard)on Jan 28 2004. She is still there at this time. When she was delivered there was a possible buyer but must not have worked out. She was a great bird. Love the duty in Kef best kept secret. I r about the display bird on other comments. That Aircraft was cut up for scrap in 2003.

I was stationed at NAS Kef from 90-92. I moved from base admin to Air Ops. Best swap I ever made. I got to fly on the station bird many times. I typed up the TAD orders, so I'd slip a set in for myself. CMDR Spencer was a great Air Boss!!!

I was stationed in NAS Keflavik from June '87 to June'89. I got to fly a few times to Germany and the US on the UP-3A and enjoyed it very much. Got to bring back some good German beer a couple of times to!

I was stationed at NAS Kef from 1994-1997 I was one of the station P-3 FE's. We re-engined to the -14 from the NAS Bermuda P-3, and used the Bermuda plane as the static display. 150495 was a great aircraft.

I am pretty sure that the static display that sits in Keflavik right now is the old base bird from Burmuda. I was at AIMD in Keflavik and we had to make all of the mods in conjunction with OMD to get the newer -14 engines on Valkyrjain 1994. The last time I physically verified that the static display was still there was August 2004. I still know folks that live on the island and would go check if I called and asked.

I Painted and patched UP-3A 150495 while stationed at NAS Keflavik 98-00. Chris Revels and I (along with the rest of the crew) had a lot of good times and drank a lot of beer. What a great plane, what a great place and what great people. I was a young AMH at the time. I could not have asked for a better plane to learn on. I don't recall ever missing a mission (we may have). Once I was able to go to Poland as part of the maint. crew. I loved to ride on that plane even if we were just doing touch and goes.

Enjoyed an interesting '88 - '91 tour in Kef. Flew many hours on "Hagar" as one of the station FE's. Met a lot of good folks in Kef, especially the dedicated and professional technicians at OMD, that kept the plane in an UP status. Outfitted with passenger-type aircraft seats, its configuration enabled the crew to perform a variety of logistics missions, primarily ferrying personnel on Environmental, Morale and Leave (EML) flights or government personnel for various occassions. Especially enjoyed the West African Training Cruises (WATC), when we would ferry USCOMSOLANT and a group of Navy Band members to 19 various West African countries to "show the flag" and enhance cultural relations between the USA and visited countries. 150495, for the most part, was very reliable and was able to perform the missions well. Presently working at Pax River, MD as a contractor - involved with P-3 training... just can't get away from the platform :-0)

Enjoyed a great tour with 150495 from 88-89. What a great plane. Just got a new boat and named her VALKYRJA - "hagar" in her honor. RIP
