IF the Air Force had mounted the Pratt & Whitney R 2800s
with turbos with 4 or 6 20mm cannon and scrapped the
remote .50s turrets, this monster could have made a
fearsome long range threat in the Pacific. The Japanese
bomber attacks on Guadalcanal and elsewhere would have
been slaughtered from the start and flying from shore bases
to help the Navy, the Nippon carrier aviation would have
been eliminated in short order too. The whole war could
have ended a lot sooner.

This plane had a nice armament and it was a shame about the changing nature of the design as it would have been a fromidable plane
