Your "Phantom" photo is really the only surviving Luscombe 4, also known as the Luscombe "Ninety" because it had a 90 hp. Warner engine. Only four or five were built, and this is the only survivor. The Phantom was somewhat larger and had a 145 hp. Warner engine.

Another great Luscomb is the earlier model 4 Phantom (see photo below). This one was seen at Watsonville, CA in 2004.

I have a 1940 Luscombe 8A which has been modified and painted to replicate "Junior" the C-90 that was stationed in the Canal Zone during WWII. The plane is hangared and flies out of Galveston, TX. SR
