I have a fondness for the FH-1 Phantom. I was in VMF-122 when they had 12 Phantons and 12 Corsairs F4U-4's. The squardron had the first jet demonstration team, before the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels. I have visited and photographed all the remaining FH-1's. The Pensacola airplane needs a lot of interior work and instrument replacement. I was impressed with the exterior paint job until I looked inside the cockpit.

A FD-1 crashed in our neighborhood in 1949. Archaeological team will excavate in spring 2001.
