I recently acquired a rear N3N-3 cockpit instrument panel. I am looking for original, wartime era gauges to restore this panel for static display. The gauges do not need to work, just look appropriate for display! I am looking for:
1) approrpiate Navy marked clock
2) red lever for magneto switch
3) N3N 3 in 1 gauge
4) switch or lever for instrument light control
5) manifold pressure gauge
6) altimeter

If anyone has any leads on any of these items, I would be very appreciative. Thank you!

If you have questions about building/re-building an N3N, you might call Jim Shore (208-454-1669) in Caldwell, Idaho as he has rebuilt several of them. He does great work - airframe and powerplant.

I was needing some information on what an N3N was worth unrestored. My father had been restoring an N3N many years ago, but he passed away 10 years ago and did not finish it. My family is trying to sell the plane for someone to restore it. We have all the parts to the plane, itemized list, data plate, engine, propeller, etc... but we are not sure what to ask for the plane. Is is worth much, unrestored? If anyone could give me some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. 903.657.8066

In reagard to the photos at the bottom of this page. I helped restore and N3N with my father. He painted his to reflect the Coast Guard scheme shown by #27. the Coast Guard was given 4 aircraft by the Navy and they had color schemes like the one shown. My dad's is #28, #27 is now on floats and lives in Hood River Oregon.
