Nathan W , GA | As Joel has stated, there is a B-2 on display in Dayton, Ohio. This aircraft was designed to test the wing strength and as such has no engines, thus not making it a "true" B-2. Also, On Febuary 23, 2008, a B-2 named "Spirit of Kansas" CRASHED on Guam, completely destroying the aircraft. That's $1,400,000 ($1.4 BILLION) tax dollars down the drain! 06/18/2008 @ 06:54 [ref: 21542] |
stereocrash , NM | Re: The TU-160
The TU-160 is an impressive aircraft but lacks an operational service record that the B1-B has for serious comparison and can't be compared to the B-2 in any capacity. The B-1 has an effective operational record both as a strategic sentry during the cold war and a tactical conventional bomber in several combat theaters. The TU-160s days are numbered as production has ceased, private ventures as a sub orbit launch platform have fallen through and its enormous expense. Less than thirty are in operation (prob fewer due to parts and labor shortages) and they have little value outside of a pure strategic role. Not to mention their bases would likely be destroyed by the USN SLMB fleet along with many other assets if such a horrid scenario ever developed.
The T-60S which has yet to be developed is the closest system the Russians have to the B-2 but remain unrealized.
TU-160 in a nutshell:
Cold War relic with the typical impressive performance specifications not unlike many other Russian/Soviet systems of the era but its complexity, cost and singular role make it unsuited for continued use IMO. 12/09/2007 @ 12:32 [ref: 18860] |

Katrin , OTH | It is a beautiful aircraft. I used to fold papers like that back in primary school. Yet I think if we could sell one - only one of these and give the money to the people of New
Orleans, they feel so left alone by their Country and they need a minimum of life everybody deserves to lead...

Judy Puyallup, WA | We have a friend that worked at Northrop and on the B-2. We are very proud that he had the chance to be a part of the B-2 among other aircrafts! We are very proud of him and Northrop...Well Done!!
Thanks, Judy 07/19/2006 @ 20:01 [ref: 13763] |
Viktor Kaplun St.-Petersburg, AK | Shitty aircraft, I say. It maybe advanced, but advanced to the ass. Big flying peace of crap, just like B1B. Aircraft for the first strike? Hahaha! Aircraft for the first BOOM! If u'd see it's side view(i mean left or right)-it's the ugliest plane of the past 50 years! Max. speed-764km/h!!! Me-262 could fly faster. Stealth tecnology-easily detected by the old radars. The only plus is 22680kgs of bombs and missiles. The first order was 132, then 75, and now-only 20 crafts-no comments... U better check out Tu-160-40000kgs of bombs and long-range missiles, 2200+ km/h... And then compare it to the B1B-i didnt press "copy":D 03/31/2006 @ 21:23 [ref: 12997] |
