I traded a S-51 to the USMC and delivered it Beaufort, circa 1990-91. When I first purchased it in Ellenvile, NY., I hired Fred Albright who had 5000hrs in S-51s mostly laying out powerline to get me current in type. After an hour or so he said I was good to go so I launched out for Roanoke, Texas. 17 stops and a whole lotta gas and 2 and one-half days I landed at 52F, in Roanoke, Texas. I couldn't believe how smooth the rotor system was. I was told it used to belong to Igor himself and he flew from his office to the plant regularly. He had a special extended step made for it to make entry and exit a little easier. I still have a main transmission for an S-51, HO3S-1, -1G, if you know of any museum that needs it.

Thanks,
