Hi All,

I'm a huge Sea King fan and was looking for any original squadron or decomm patches from any of the old HC Squadrons as trying to peice together a collection of H-3 squadron patches (I'm 17 so doing it for a keepsake type of thing). I can send a little something ($$) if need be. If anyone can help me please drop me a line.

Thanks and Fly Navy!

Why are all the comments from West Coasters? I flew the SH-3G from 72-75 with HC-2 out of NAS Lakehurst, NJ and NAS Jacksonville, FL. Cruised with JFK Det-67 during 1973, keeping the hills of Italy safe for democracy. Nearly 900 hours in the H-3. Only one crash--not the aircraft's fault. Enjoyed it all, but always felt like I was working hard to keep it in the air.

I flew in the SH3G in HC-1 from 1972 thru 1974 as a swimmer crewman and as a crewcheif. I was there when we picked up Apollo 15 and Skylab II Astronauts on short cruises. I also did two WestPacs aboard the USS Coral Seas (CVA-43)in 71/72 & 72/73 1st as a swimmer and then as a crewcheif. I was aboard the helo that crashed off the USS Providence 5/8/72 and was the last of the 5 survivors rescued that night. All the survivors had been through the training in the delbert dunker the others hadn't. Sikorsky built one of the best helos in my opinion and the SH3G is the top of the list. If Presidents find it their best ride to and from Andrews AFB, then it should be good enough for anyone else, including Astronauts.

Spent 1978-1981 with HC-1 Det2 on USS Midway, 1981-1984 with VC-5 NAS Cubi Pt. and 1984-1986 with HS-7 USS JFK.Work horse of the Navy and most dependable aircraft I ever flew in.

I flew in the SH-3G, UH-3H, HH-3F, and VH-3A and had a great time. I have been flying for almost 30 years with most of that time in the H-3. Now that I am retired from the Navy I am still flying in the H-3 (seaking) from Egypt, India, and Cougar helicopters (S-61). Drop me a line

I worked on H-3s from 70-73 as a mechanic in HC1det4.Wejoined the Enterprise in Jan 71 and sailed around Cape Horn, getting initiated into the ancient order the deep and enjoying carnivale in Rio, then we joined the Gulf of Tonkin Yacht club for an 8 mo. cruise, short cruised on the Orriscany and 7 mos. on the Ranger in 72/73.I finished up doing intermediate maintenance at Ream Field on t-58 powerplants till I was discharged in Dec 73.4yrs of navy life was enough for me but I sure enjoyed working on and flying in the Sea King and the comraderie of a small squadron.
