antique aeroplanes in their natural setting and
recaptures the thrill and excitement of old-time
flying from the period of 1900 to 1939. Visitors
to the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome can see
outstanding World War I and earlier aircraft in
action and watch this colorful era brought back
to life amidst the roar of rotary engines and the
smell of burnt castor oil. We pride ourselves in
flying original aircraft or accurate copies
powered with original engines. This attraction is
situated in historic Rhinebeck, New York and can
be easily reached by car using Taconic State
Parkway or the New York Thruway. Parking and
picnicking facilities are free. Tour our Air
Museum buildings full of vintage aeroplanes,
engines, cars, etc. Bring along your cameras -
excellent picture and video opportunities.

The Aerodrome is open daily from 10:00 AM until
5:00 PM May 15 through October. EXCITING AIR
SHOWS are held every week-end from mid-June
through mid-October. Saturday shows Pioneer and
Lindbergh Era. Sunday shows feature World War I
aircraft; two different shows. Show time is 2:00
PM to 4:00 PM (one performance). The shows
commence with a vintage fashion show and parade
of antique cars which involve audience
participation. Group visits for the airshows can
be accommodated with advance reservations. Group
tours of the museum are also available
(Mon.-Fri.) by prior arrangements. Call the office
at 845-752-3200 to set up a visit for your group.

BARNSTORMING RIDES in a 1929 open-cockpit
biplane (New Standard D-25) are available before
and after the shows. Flights are approximately 15
minutes from start to finish and cost $40.00 per
person.
 The RHINEBECK AERODROME MUSEUM will
continue the lifelong work of Cole Palen, its
Founder, to preserve early aviation history. The
Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome performs its world-famous
airshows and activities in the tradition of Cole
Palen .

The museum is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Corporation.
Memberships are available and welcome. Members
receive a quality newsletter that provides status
updates of the Aerodrome's various projects and
often takes a look back at the history of the
Aerodrome itself.
Donations to the museum are also welcome and are
tax deductible to the extent provided for by law.
It is with pride and pleasure that we share Cole
Palen's dream, aviation's rich heritage and its

 | This was an outstanding experience with the sites and sounds of recreated vintage aircraft in thier natural enviroment, the air. My 3 year old loves it too and watches the home movies I took over and over again. Highly recomended.

 | Great place, the only other place you can actually fly in vintage aircraft is on Long Island at the American Airpower Museum in Farmngdale. Go to both for a great time.

 | Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome had a wonderful 2007 season, entertaining and educating over 20,000 people with 20 flying vintage airplanes (plus over 50 more in our museum). We also added a second "rides" biplane, to accommodate the large demand for this thrill of a lifetime, plus we added new "rides" in our antique cars. We have a great 2008 season planned for you, and recommend you check our website www.oldrhinebeck.org for the latest updates.

 | The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome is worth the drive up from New York City. It is the only aviation museum that I know of where they actually fly the airplanes.
I'm a pilot and I've visited many aviation museums. This one comes alive when they start firing up those old airplane engines.
     Just Go!

 | The Old Rhinebeck Aerodome is great family fun. My husband and I have been attending it for years. I attended college in the area and since graduating return every year to take in the beautiful countryside and to see some wonderful old planes. Our two children ages 3 and 6 also both love to attend and watch the show.
