Steve Weiss North Las Vegas, Nevada | The XC-99 has been partially dismantled and is now awaiting complete restoration at the National Museum of the United States Air Force (Air Force Museum) in Dayton, Ohio. I was unaware Brooks Field had any sort of a museum, especially since it was taken over by the city of San Antonio some years back. 04/02/2013 @ 17:17 [ref: 55456] |

Don San Antonio, Texas | This museum hasn't existed since maybe the early 80's or late 70's. The site is the former parking spot for the XC-99 which I got to go into as a kid in the early 70's. The XC-99 was towed back onto Kelly AFB (now KellyUSA) in the late 80's/early 90's time frame and now sits on a section of the former runway 14/32 near the C-5 ramp. Take note, the area code for San Antonio has been 210 and not 512 for ten years now. Take any informatoin posted on this site with a grain of salt and verify the facts before setting off to visit ANY museum listed here. 05/30/2002 @ 02:59 [ref: 2176] |

Luke Sockwell San Antonio, Texas | I have lived in SA since 1950 and I have never heard of this site either!
In the \'60s there was a XC-99 cargo plane displayed in that area. The XC-99 was a retired, altered B-36 made into a cargo plane that established a remarkable record when it was in service. It was given to some Veteran\'s orgnization who never publicized it and it fell into disrepair and I don\'t know where it is now (2001)...probably parts were stolen off it until there is NOTHING left of it!!! May be down in Old Mexico!!!!!!!!! 08/21/2001 @ 08:24 [ref: 1386] |
Maria Rademacher Houston,, Texas | Is this internet site just a hoax??? The phone # is not right and information had no listing for your museum. San Antonio Chamber of Commerce and the visitors' center said they have never heard of you as well as Brooks AF Base and Lackland AF Base! We were planning on taking our 11 year old WWII enthusiast and all his buddies to your museum but have had "0" success trying to get ANY KIND OF INFORMATION on you! Just what is the deal????? 10/26/2000 @ 17:28 [ref: 550] |
