There were 12 P-26s in service with the 6th Pursuit Squadron, Philippine Army Air Corps based at Zablan Airfield (later to Batangas Field) in December 1941.

Some of these aircraft were credited of shooting down 2 or 3 Japanese A6M2 "Zeroes" and a G3M "Nell" bombers. On Christmas Day, 1941,the remaining P-26s were burned to prevent them from falling into Japanese hands
