I had a terrific day today because I was fortunate to spend about three hours with astronauts Bill Anders and Frank Borman at the Colorado Springs Jet Center. Actually I went out to see their aircraft and a chance meeting of my boyhood heros of Apollo-8 fame. Frank was flying a Canadair Saber-6 with an Orenda-14 engine. He said the aircraft is so dependable that not much is needed i n the way of continuous maintenance...says a lot about Orenda engines. Bill Anders was flying his P-51D, Val Halla, and there just isn't any better sounding recip than his RR/Allision. Thanks to these old guys for keeping them flying. Frank bought over 800 gal of kerosine during his three day stay..whew..not good mileage, eh? Mike
