Hi George, (ref 14097)

I was a crew chief on 68-0040 in RAF Upper Heyford from 1979 to 1981. I would love to get in contact with you. As you can see we are very close. I am a Lead Aircraft Technician for formerly Continental, now United Airlines. I don't know if you will see this since your posting is from 2006.

Negative, 63-9776 (Camo 111 on base) was originally towards the front gate and moved to Heritage park in 1999. The jet has 66-0022 painted on the tail in honor of 66-0022 that was lost in Vietnam in 67-68? 63-9776 was one of the original 14 proto-types of the TFX prodject when the f-111 was being tested and later was redesignated as an RF-111. The EF that is on display at Mountain Home is 66-0048. She was the first "A" model sent to be retrofitted for the EF package. It was retired to Mountain Home June of 1998 and put on display Aug/Sept 1998

Greetings....I am the lucky and proud owner of F-111E 68-0040 capsule/pod. I am in the process of restoring this wonderful piece and would love to hear from folks that are familiar with the platform and would be on high-notes if I could make contact with the crews of "040." She was stationed in England for quite a while. *The restoration has been trying and it seems like for ever step forward, I have to take 3 steps back! I am also looking for misc. hardware and equipment to complete the capsule. Thank You.

The Raven you see here was originally an F-111A that was the FIRST to be converted over to an EF-111A, 66-0049. The F-111 on display across the park from it, was an F-111A reconfigured to be an RF-111A. When the RF-111A was placed for static, it was painted with a F-111D tailnumber. 68-0022 is still in the boneyard with it's 522FS tail on. Check F-111.net for more information about ANY F-111. They have a tail number page there for each different model, scroll all the way to the bottom on the home page.

This D model still has the 522FS flagship tail. For more information, you can go to F-111.net, take the tail/hull numbers with you. They have tailnumber pages set up by model suffix.
