| Dale Bartels , SC | I worked on the HH-34J helicopters in 1973-74 while assigned to the 301st ARRSq at Homestead AFB. Our H-34s were exNavy and were used as an interim helicopter as we transitioned from the HU-16B to HH-3Es. I enjoyed working on the H-34 especially running the engines. The smell of avgas fumes wafting thru the cockpit while the R-1820 rumbled along was great. Jets are for kids!
