Matthew Sherman, Texas | Was stationed at Sheppard from 93-96. Had a blast. Was on the flightline. Love the aircraft. Great static displays around the base. Once a year the Confederate Air Force would perform also. God Bless our troops !!! 09/02/2007 @ 19:39 [ref: 6275] |

Pat , Texas | On your picture of a T-29 with the Air Evac markings. While stationed at Scott AFB IL I worked on this airplane and it's a C-131 not a T-29 03/08/2007 @ 06:17 [ref: 5718] |
A. K. Love Pasadena, Texas | 1951. attended A&E school and Instructors school.
Instructor Inspection 2 phase.
Three shifts per day of six hours. Class entered front door and exited back door to make room for the following class. Who remembers KP between
class phases,Pots and Pans seem to be the most remembered. The school was good ehough for me to take the CAA A & E license test and pass.
Spent 40 years in the aviation world.
Never saw the the aircraft museum. 09/03/2006 @ 08:13 [ref: 5230] |
Wayne Buran Medina, Ohio | I was stationed at Sheppard from Nov 1962 to Mar 1965 and assigned to 3750 M&S Squadron Motor Pool. At that time it was out near the SAC wing. Went thru a devastating tornado in April 64 that really tore up the base and hurt some troops. No deaths but Wichita Falls didn't do well. Was stationed with some great guys, Jody Stofko, Wayne Shilling, and Clyde VanDall. Shipped out to DonMuang RTAFB, Bangkok, in Mar 65. Sheppard was good duty. Thanks for the tour. 03/22/2006 @ 13:57 [ref: 4903] |
Keith Snyder Dallas, Texas | The display aircraft at Sheppard AFB are not located in one place on base. They are scattered throughout the base housing and technical instruction area. Sheppard is not an 'open' base, a sponsor or military ID is necessary for entry. Anyone wishing to view the displayed aircraft should call the Public Affairs office well in advance of your visit, to see if they will allow you on base. 03/07/2006 @ 17:00 [ref: 4865] |
Delford E. Jackson Wilmington, Ohio | I was stationed at Sheppard from Jan 49 thru May 49. This was my second enlistment and second turn for basic training. I first went thru basic at the SAC facility that later become Lackland. The first basic was only 6 weeks compared to 13 weeks at Sheppard. The six weeks seemed longer than the 13 weeks basic training. 09/16/2005 @ 23:47 [ref: 4439] |
