Steve Baudo Arlington, TX | For Ron Tabish. Tried to locate Don Powell with no luck. I ran into him many years ago at a shop in west Texas. I know he was from Pearsall Texas. 06/18/2011 @ 17:12 [ref: 39658] |
Sid Gates Denver, CO | I was stationed with the 27th FIS Rome,NY. The 27th was the first squadron to get the F-102. As soon as we had 12 pilots checked out in the F-102 NBC television from NY City came to tape a Introductory Air Show. I was right beside the NBC cameras with my 8mm film camera. You can see my footage on You Tube at:
The F-102 footage starts about 1/2 way through the film. The early footage is flight operations at Rome,NY.
As far as I know the NBC footage was never broadcast. 04/18/2011 @ 11:54 [ref: 37523] |
Joseph Hawkins (Hawk ) Manteo, NC | love this site!
I was a "crew chief" at Elmendorf AFB,AK from 1966 thru nov 1969, part of the 5040th OMS. We had two TF-102s, or "double bubbles" as we called them and I got to fly several parts runs to other northern bases which was the highlite of my time in the AF. On a visit several years ago to Alaska I noticed with great pride ole 274 sitting on static display with the others that have served over the years in Alaska. It gave me great pleasure to show my family the "ole bird" that they had heard so much about over these many years. I've lost track of all the guys and miss them more as I get older.
I wish them well !!! 01/29/2010 @ 10:05 [ref: 25649] |

Spent many alerts at King Salmon, Galena, Eilson and Elmendorf. Great assignment and a great airplane. Ended up back at Perrin AFB instructing as an IP and ground school before going to SEA, 04/26/2009 @ 21:14 [ref: 24125] |

Gary L. McDowell Newburgh, IN | Correction, the tail was removed, not the wings. This allowed it to go under traffic lights. It looks like it have been moved back to Elmendorf. 11/17/2008 @ 12:35 [ref: 23089] |
