John Richards Glastonbury UK, WY | Hi
I live in the UK and now having turned 60, I am interested in trying to tie up (for any aircraft) Nose art/Mission Marks/Individual aircraft names with tail numbers. I wonder if any ex F-111 crew can help me fill in any details please? I've put Wyoming as my state as otherwise I cannot send!!!!
Thanks

Bill Sabaski lebanon, TN | I was Asst. C/C and C/C on 68-033 at upper heyford from jan 82 -jan 84., nice to see other people still love the "baby buff" as we sometimes called it back then.It seems the years of "swing wing" planes are steadily coming to an end with the retirement of the f-14 Tomcat.Another sad day in aviation.. 02/28/2007 @ 05:22 [ref: 15706] |

JAMES MUSITELLI ODESSA, TX | I WAS A CREW CHIEF ON 68-062 AT UPPERHEYFORD FROM JAN 1971 TO MARCH 1972 IN 79th TFS. I ENJOYED WORKING ON THIS AIRCRAFT A GREAT DEAL. 02/18/2007 @ 17:43 [ref: 15573] |
Mick , OTH | Already it 13yrs since Upper Heyfords F111\'s last gloriously roared over my home town of Banbury here in the UK & i & many others still miss \'em overhead badly! With both the E\'s & the EF\'s, there were alot of \'em!, but i can still remember \'em often overflying the town like it was yesterday though. And - often in pairs or more - what a fantastic sight they were too! - Awesome aircraft & no wonder the Libyan\'s have learnt to nowadays try & behave themselves! But no, Banbury\'s just not quite the same without those big beauties daily overhead. Amazing to see most of \'em now at rest at AMARC.. So, so miss \'em.. 12/15/2006 @ 05:33 [ref: 15005] |
Thomas McNeill , AZ | Just another note about 68-040. Maybe you should go to Davis Monthan afb as there are plenty of f111's moth balled there. If its an ejected capsule there's gonna be alot of damage by the gillotines and the explosive charges that help it separate from the aircraft. 10/05/2006 @ 09:01 [ref: 14377] |
Thomas McNeill , AZ | I was a crew chief at Upper Heyford between 1984 and 1989. I worked on 68-040 and was responsible for the nose art on it at the time. It was called the other woman by the assigned crew chief and I painted the picture of a rose on both sides and did it over the new year weekend while everyone else was at home. I got stuck doing it because of some pics of bloom county characters on my aircraft 68-043. I also did the nose art on seven other aircraft in the 79th squadron (tigers) 10/05/2006 @ 08:53 [ref: 14376] |
