The planes ,helicopters and equipment up close is much larger scale than I could have imagined . There is so much history ,it brings it home . | bigdougdog Daleville, Alabama |  In my continuing saga of aviation museum exploration this one stands out. most of the exibits are well kept, indoors and out. It also is small enough that you can enjoy it in a few hours and be on your way. The armament collection and smalls arms collection is great and very hands on. This museum also has a memorial to military working dogs and their handlers at it that struck a special place in my heart. One of the bricks was dedicated to a man who i served with at Camp Ramadi, i was part of the mission that medivaced him and 84 others (mostly Iraqi civilians) injured or killed in a suicide bombers attack. 12/19/2008 @ 21:19 [ref: 8572] |
| WAYNE REINIER , Florida | HAVING FLOWN ON THE B-47, AND C-130 FOR MANY YEARS;IT IS A PLEASURE TO TAKE MY GRANDCHILREN AND RELATIVES TO THE MUSEUM AND WATH THEIR FACES AS THEY EXPLORE THE EXCELLENT DISPLAYS AND GET IN THE TWO SIMULATORS AND FLY THE HECK OUT OF THEM. | Josh Meader Denver, Colorado | Was on a vacation to Destin when I heard about this museum. Wow I was amazed at all the aircraft they have outside, including the SR-71 "BIG TAIL" aircraft. The interior of the museum was interesting as well, as you can see up close most of the aircraft weapons throughout history which includes a mock up of the "FAT MAN" atomic bomb. | Dean Gibson Bay City, Michigan | What a wonderful museum. A great selection of planes (in great condition) and armament that is nicely laid out and easy to get around. | Cal Moser Kerrville, Texas | I really enjoyed my recent visit to the USAF Armament Museum. I really enjoyed seeing the B47H Bomber. I was a crew chief and flew on the B47H Bombers when I was stationed at Forbes AFB, Kansas.I was in the 38th SRS of the 55th SRW and spent four months in Thule AFB, Greenland with my B47H. I also got to see the F4 Phantom and F101 Voodoo Fighters that I worked on at McDonnell Aircraft after leaving the Air Force. | Rick Hooker Acworth, Georgia | I was pleasantly surprised by the number of aircraft on display and the quality of the exhibits. The museum's collection includes ~35 aircraft including a B-52, SR-71, B-17G, B-25, AC-130A (which is the very first production C-130 made), B-47, etc. Numerous indoor displays document the history of hte armament development of the Air Force. Plan on spending about 4 hours or so to go through the museum (more time if you want to read all the displays in detail). All in all, it was a great way to spend an afternoon with my family while on vacation in Florida.
