The recent photo submitted by Harry Gaston appears to show the colors of an aircraft from Suffolk County AFB.

Harry, where was the photo taken?

I was the crew chief of acft 57-448 at Suffolc Co. A.F.B. I was stationed there from 1962 until 1966, that was great duty a small base where everybody knew everybody. I am looking for anybody that was stationed there during this time.

Richard,

Who could ever forget the likes of Col. Francis Gabreski or places like "The Barge" or "The Bridle Path", or even "Doc's" bar and restaurant in Riverhead?

What a great duty station, especially West Hampton Beach in the summer time. I was in the flight control shop from 1966 - 1967 when I got shipped to Tan Son Nhut.

I was the crew chief of this aircraft from late 1965 to 1967 when I was sent to Viet Nam to work on A-37 aircrafts. I took over the plane from a Mike Novak at Suffolk County Air Force base on Long Island. Our base commander was a Col. who was a famous ACE jet fighter pilot. In those days you come out of tech school at Texas and get assigned to a unit where you are thrown into crewing a 2 to 5 million dollar aircraft overnight. By the time I left Suffolk I had been promoted to Staff Sgt. because I was taking college courses at night at Southampton University and was taking on administrative responsibilities.

To Milton Banas,

I have a copy of a book titled "F-101 Voodoo" by Bert Kinzey. It was copyrighted in 1986 by "Detail & Scale" and published in the U.S. by "Tab Books, Inc.". It shows a lot of good details of the aircraft, including inside the cockpit, has at least one photo with the Texas ANG markings, and refers to a model made by "Monogram", kit # 5811, S/N 57-0427, with the markings of the 111th FIS, Texas ANG.

Hope this helps,

I am looking for photos of a F-101 Voodoo in the markings of the Texas ANG unit. I am in the process of building a model for a friend and what like to be able to dublicate the markings for this "Gool Ole Boy from Texas".

I worked in the AGE shop in the 87th FIS at Lockbourne AFB from 61 to 67. Prior to leaving the 87th FIS I was given a ride in aircraft 56-264 (not listed here). What a thrill, will never forget it.

I was stationed in the 13th. FIS at Glasgow AFB, MT. from 27 Feb, 1962 to 14 Mar, 1965. I was a Weapons System
Technician working on the RADAR system built by Hughes Aircraft. Is ther anyone out there who served at Glasgow during my time there? The F-101B was a sweet aircraft to work on and to be around. I still to this day remember the system and the units I worked on.
