jerrold malone tucson, AZ | My old unit(Air Force Orientation Group) retired our F-15 to this museum and they displayed it for a while. It appears that it is not here anymore.Does anyone know where 71-0280 is? It was the first one flown. 02/11/2008 @ 04:57 [ref: 19639] |
Mike Lorrey grantham, NH | Actually, the 318th was deactivated in 1989 and finally put to bed in Jan 1990. This is when its F-15s were transferred to the Oregon air guard, not in 1980 as stated above. I was in the unit from mid-1988 up to the closing time. I'm looking for any 318th alumni groups out there.... 12/14/2005 @ 12:07 [ref: 11978] |
Lee Turner Valdosta, GA | Crewed 77-095 at Soesterberg AB, NL (32 TFS)'78-'79, then got the first F-15D ever in Europe (79-004), then 77-126 at Holloman in 1980. Great jet. Sure wish someone that knows about airplanes would police the picture posting.

Rusty Shackleford Arlen, TX | in regards to the note about the 318th FIS F-15, the dude who wrote that made a mistake. the 318th lost their aircraft in november 1989 and the unit disbanded in december. 07/10/2004 @ 13:14 [ref: 7794] |
David , VA | The Eagle on the pedistal at Langley is not an A but one of the prototype YF-15A's This can be seen in the length of the speedbrake which is about half the length of the standard "A". I and a few of the other Crew Chiefs had the opportunity to crawl around it a little before they painted it in '84. 06/01/2004 @ 20:28 [ref: 7516] |
Patrick Roy Lakewood, WA | The f-15 on display at mcchord air museum which is serial number 76-048. Never flew with the unit whose insignia is on the tail. The 318th FIS lost all its F-15s to the 126th FW of the Oregon air guard in 1980. 048 was flown to mcchord on december 7 1994 from the 101 FW of the Massachusetts air guard. 04/29/2004 @ 16:03 [ref: 7332] |
